The XCS eiConsole Supports the Invocation of SOAP-Based Web Services

The XCS eiConsole supports the invocation of SOAP-based Web Services. This can be accomplished through the HTTP Post Listener, or also through the SOAP Web Service Listener. As with all the components of the eiConsole the user is presented with a graphical interface with easy to configure panels. To configure the SOAP Web Service specific Listener, you select this option from the Transport Type dropdown.

On the Basic configuration tab, the Target URL configuration item is used to specify the URL or URI to which you wish to post the data. The SOAP Version configuration item allows you to manually specify the version of the SOAP protocol that you wish to use. Supported are versions SOAP 1.1 and SOAP 1.2.

SOAP Web Service Basic configuration tab

The Credentials tab allows you to specify HTTP credentials to be used when connecting to the SOAP service. The User Name configuration item is used to specify the User Name. The Auth Host configuration item allows you to specify the HTTP Authentication Host. The Authentication Port configuration item allows you to specify the Authentication Port. The Password configuration item allows you to specify the Password to be used to authenticate.

SOAP Web Service Basic configuration tab

The Advanced tab allows you to specify the Response Listener to be called if interested in working with a response provided by this Web Service. The data entered in the Response Listener configuration item must correlate to the name given to a programmatic or triggerable Listener in another route. The Form Element configuration item is typically unused in a SOAP Web Service Transport. The HTTP Headers configuration item is specified to configure additional HTTP or SOAP Headers to be placed in the outbound message.

SOAP Web Service Basic configuration tab

The Proxy tab allows you to specify information about any HTTP Proxy that may be required when communicating with an outbound Web Service. To configure a Proxy, select the Use Proxy configuration item (checkbox). Enter in the name of the Proxy Host, which is the IP Address or name of the Proxy server. The Proxy Port configuration item is used to specify the Port of the Proxy. Proxy Authentication Username will contain the Username used to connect to the Authenticate Proxy. The Proxy Authentication Password is the Password associated with that username.
